Q. I have concerns on audio/video recording of class sessions. I would not like to be recorded, neither on the web nor in classes.
A. We record audio in most sessions. We also record our online sessions and make them available to students from so they can reference it later, playing back and pausing as often as needed. If you don’t want your voice recorded now or in future, don’t speak up. We cannot mute you individually or edit you out. We DO take photos at the end of the course, so if you don’t want to be in them, no issues.
Q. I cannot decide if I can cope with the CloudMASTER certificate courses. I do not have adequate work experience. I have an EE background but I do not have a working knowledge of computer networks.
A. No issues; if you didn’t have the bachelors degree, you’d need equivalent work experience. NO ONE is expected to have work experience in the cloud since the field is so new. Think Gmail - how much programming or networking do you need to configure a Gmail account?
Q. How much work are we expected to do after class?
A. 2-4 hours every week.
Q. Is there individual homework to present to the class each week?
A. You submit it in the open forum where everyone else can read it, and you can read theirs. Its many-to-many learning.
Q. Do we have to search for learning materials on our own or are you going to provide all the reading materials we need to successfully complete the course(s).
A. We will provide.
Q. There are online session on the weekends. Are those for students who miss the class during the week, or are the weekday class and Sunday online session different?
A. Different. Class is for new learning and discussions among the group, the homework has detailed instructions (videos where needed) to follow along and get practice, the weekend sessions deal more hands on problem sets and see us resolve issues in real time.
Q. How do we work with the instructor after class if we need to speak to him, email, phone conversations?
A. Skype.
Q. How large is a class approximately?
A. 25 to 30 participants
Q. Can I use a Chromebook in this class?
A. No. You need a Mac or a PC running Windows or Linux.
Q. Can I download the recordings?
A. Sorry not by default as we will need to make special arrangements. However, you can view the recordings any number of times.
Q. Are there other courses to follow?
A. It depends on student interest.
Q. I have to be away and will miss one or two classes.
A. You need to catch up and complete the assignments before you can graduate the module.
Q. Can I skip a course and take it in future?
A. Skipping a class or two is OK but if you know you are going to skip a course, we suggest you register when you know you can attend.
Q. Is it pass/fail or grades?
A. Pass/fail
